Bridal planning guide · Brisbane

How many wedding dress fittings do I need? The dress decides the plan.

A friend may have needed a different number of visits because their dress and work were different. Use the fitting plan for your own gown. Ask what each appointment is checking, what happens between visits and which changes need to be settled before the next stage.

An enquiry requests availability. The work, quote and appointment are confirmed separately.

At a glance

The useful starting point.

A useful answer explains what the visits are for. The dress, work sequence and availability matter more than a fixed package. Ask whether the plan may change if a later check raises another concern or if you add work.

01The starting point

Know what the first fitting can decide.

The first visit should help clarify the fit concerns and possible scope. It is not a promise that every alteration will be carried out during that appointment. Explain your priorities and ask about the work that may take place between visits.

02Fit & construction

Ask about the order of the work.

A gown is not a list of unrelated seams. If more than one area needs work, ask how the changes interact. The fitting plan may need a check after an earlier stage rather than mark every final position before the dress has been adjusted.

03The details

Keep the fitting items consistent.

Bring the items you intend to wear rather than a rough substitute where possible. If a choice is still undecided, say so. A final length based on one shoe may need review if another is selected later. Ask before making that switch.

04A clear next step

Count the dates that require you to attend.

A fitting plan is only practical if you can attend the stages that need you. Include the date you leave for the wedding, not only the ceremony date. Ask what happens if another check becomes necessary, especially when you are travelling from another region.

Discuss your alterations

Before you visit

A practical checklist.

Keep the relevant outfit choices and questions together.

  • List the proposed changes
  • Bring the actual shoes and undergarments
  • Ask what happens between visits
  • Confirm which checks need you present
  • Share travel and collection deadlines

A few things to know

Questions about the guide.

These answers explain the process and limits. Details for your own outfit must be confirmed after assessment.

Is one appointment always enough for a hem?

No fixed count is promised. Layers, other fit changes and the planned checks affect what is needed for the actual gown.

Does a complex gown always need more visits?

Complexity is one factor, but the work and fitting sequence matter too. Ask for the plan that relates to your dress rather than assume a number.

Does collection count as a fitting?

Ask what is expected at collection and whether you should try the dress on. A handover and a fit check are not automatically the same event.

Can I reduce visits by sending measurements?

Measurements and photos can explain a request, but they do not replace every assessment of the gown on its wearer. Discuss your availability and the required checks.

Where can I request a fitting plan?

Use the enquiry form and explain the gown, changes and dates. The fitting dates are agreed after your enquiry is reviewed.
