01The starting point

Start with what you feel and see.

Tell the fitter how the gown behaves when you sit and walk. A label size or a tape measurement alone cannot explain the whole fit. If you want to keep a lace edge, sleeve or other detail, make that a clear part of the request.

02Fit & construction

Ask about the same scope in every quote.

Two quotes may list different work even if both use the term bridal alterations. Check which changes, materials and visits are included. Confirm the collection date and ask how later requests would affect the agreed scope before extra work begins.

A few things to know

A few questions before you enquire.

These answers explain the process and limits. Details for your own outfit must be confirmed after assessment.

What should I bring to a fitting?

Bring the gown, planned shoes, undergarments and any separate piece that affects the fit. Ask about accessories or an overskirt when the appointment is confirmed.

How many fittings will I need?

That depends on the gown and work. Ask which checks are needed for your own dress rather than rely on a fixed count.

What affects the alteration cost?

The changes, fabric, layers and details affect the scope. Ask for those items to be clear in the quote before comparing prices.

Can a dress be taken in or let out?

The seams, spare fabric and earlier work determine the options. A particular size change cannot be assumed from the label or a photo.

Does hemming include a bustle?

No. Hemming changes skirt length, while a bustle lifts part of the train. Ask for each requested item to be included in the scope.

Can I ask about a gown bought elsewhere?

Yes. Explain where it came from and any earlier work you know about. The dress still needs its own assessment.

Is rush work available?

Send your deadline and the proposed changes. Do not rely on a same-day or express fitting until a date has been agreed.

Can I enquire for the whole wedding party?

Yes. List the people, outfits and changes needed. Ask who can attend and agree the dates first.

Does an enquiry confirm a booking?

No. The appointment, location, scope and quote need separate agreement. Success only confirms acceptance by the sending service.

Are the photographs client results?

No. They are generated editorial concepts, not proof of completed work, staff identities or studio premises.
